Statement of Faith
We believe that the bible is the inspired and only infallible Word of God, the supreme and final authority in matters of faith and life, interpreted by the Holy Spirit to each individual believer.
We seek to teach the Word of God in such a way that its message can be applied to an individual’s life, leading that person to greater maturity in Christ.
We believe there is One true God; eternally existing in three persons– Father, Son and Holy Spirit– each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His victorious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to the earth in power and glory to rule for a thousand years.
We await the pre-tribulation rapture of the church, and we believe that the second coming of Christ with His saints to rule on earth will be personal, pre-millennial, and visible. This motivates us to holy living, heartfelt worship, committed service and diligent study of God’s word.
We believe human beings were originally created in the image of God. Adam sinned by disobeying God; thus, he was alienated from his Creator. This historic fall brought mankind under divine condemnation.
We believe that human nature is corrupted, and by nature we are totally unable to please God. Every human being is in need of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
We believe that our salvation is wholly a work of God’s free grace and is not the work, in whole or part, of human works or goodness or religious ceremony. God imputes His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and thereby justifies them in His sight.
We believe in the resurrection and final judgement of both the saved and the lost, the saved to everlasting life and the lost to everlasting damnation.
We believe that rather than the church replacing Israel, God’s prophetic plan for the salvation of the world is bound up with His prophetic plan for the re-gathering and salvation of Israel.
We believe the Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to men. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them, continually indwells them from the moment of spiritual birth and seals them until the day of redemption. His fullness, power and control are appropriated in the believers life by faith.
We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2 v 4, is given to the believers who ask. The Holy Spirit in a person’s life is evidenced by a change in their life, including a renewed love for God, and people, a commitment to the scriptures and holy living. The Spirit-filled believer has the capability of speaking with new tongues whether or not he or she chooses to exercise this gifting.
We believe every believer is called to live in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a holy life.
We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the scriptures, and that they are valid for today if they are exercised within the Scriptural guidelines.
We as believers are to covet the best gifts, seeking to exercise them in love that the whole Body of Christ might be edified.
We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and without this love all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless.
We Reject
The belief that true Christians can be demon possessed, however we do believe that they can suffer demonic oppression.
The five points of Calvinism– A fatalistic Calvinistic view that leaves no room for free will; specifically, we reject the belief that Jesus’ atonement was limited, instead we believe that he died for all people, and we reject the assertion that God’s wooing grace cannot be resisted or that He has elected some people to go to hell; instead we believe that anyone who wills to come to Christ may do so.
The positive confession– the ‘faith movement’ belief that God can be commanded to heal or work according to man’s will.
Human prophecy that supersedes the Scriptures.
The incorporation of humanistic and secular psychology and philosophy into Biblical teaching.
The over-emphasis of spiritual gifts, experiential signs and wonders to the exclusion of Biblical teaching.
